Jason Newsted spent 15 years performing and recording with Metallica, earning six Grammy Awards as well as induction into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In 2005, as a result of three career-altering shoulder surgeries, Newsted turned his attention to visual art. Challenged with the temporary immobility of his right arm, he learned to use his left hand and, as a result, he continues to execute all of his works ambidextrously.
In painting and drawing, Newsted has found a new means of creative expression. His imagery is joyful, filled with wonder and demonstrates the freedom of a confident and supremely talented creative soul. In Newsted’s work we are able to clearly see the evolution of a multi-faceted artist.
